A MEISSEN DATED MODEL OF A HOUND ON A TABOURET

Modelled by J.J. Kändler, seated upright on its haunches in a begging pose, wearing a gilt-edged turquoise collar inscribed in gilding with the intials 'MJ' and 'RP' for Queen Maria Josepha flanking the date 1739, the tabouret with gilt shells to each side and gilt-scroll cabriole legs with female masks, joined above the gilt paw feet by an X-framed stretcher, restoration to nose, ears, paws, tail and body of dog and top of tabouret
