A FINELY CARVED GREYISH-GREEN JADE 'RAM'S HEAD' FINIAL
WESTERN HAN (206 BC - AD 8)
Carved from a jade plaque with the profile of the animal head, well worked on either side in shallow relief to depict the facial features of the ram, its horns curling backwards and the fur represented with scale-like details around the neck, drilled with a hole on the neck and hollowed at the end for attachment, the stone of greyish-green tone with dark brown inclusions at the extremities
