FIRST HALF OF THE 19TH CENTURY
Each modelled in a striding pose, looking straight ahead with trunks curled slightly to the left and right and tails swishing to the opposite sides, the bodies under an iron-red glaze with hide markings picked out in a deeper tone, each with a simple iron-red saddle gilt on top with a delicate floral design, and placed over an elaborate lime-green-ground saddle-cloth extending over the head, suspending gilt bells and decorated with scrolling stylised flowers and foliage around four gilt shou roundels
