CRISTAL

Cristal was famously produced by Roederer to sate the thirst of Russian Czar Alexander II in 1876. As regime change via assassination was of obvious concern to the Czar, he ordered all bottles arrive to his table in clear containers to avoid an unwanted bomb that could be hidden in a typical green Champagne bottle. The rest, as they say, is history. The clear, flat bottomed bottle was made from lead crystal and the first prestige cuvee willingly adopted the name now known throughout the entire world.
