Montrachet--Vintage 2000
Côte de Beaune, Marquis de Laguiche, Drouhin
Lot 317 in original wooden case
As is usually the case with the Drouhin Montrachet, this is much more discreet and reserved in character than the Btard. A bit of vigorous swirling though reveals an exquisite, heady perfume of white flowers, touch of honey and crushed dried herbs followed by wonderfully complex, intense and relatively fine flavors. This is not especially big or powerful and it does not deliver the sheer volume and richness of the Btard. Rather, it is understated and refined though this is not to suggest that there is not good weight here as this is a relatively big Montrachet by the usual Drouhin standards. A very solid if not truly spectacular showing. BH July 2002
