Lot Essay
The vertical marquetry panels depicting mirror images of stylised birds, are first found in a sketch by Koloman Moser dating from 1899. A variation of this tessellating marquetry device, depicting fish, was employed by Moser for the suite of furniture Der reiche Fischzug, 1900.
