A picture that could be identical to the present composition is mentioned in the estate of the widow of Johan van der Chrijs in Delft in 1692, at the time valued at Dfl. 12 (see Wolfgang C. Maier-Preusker Christiaen van Couwenbergh (1604-1667), Cologne, 1991, p. 228, no. C53).
