Of oval shape, the cover with rectangular micro-mosaic scene depicting a recumbant cocker spaniel terrier in a meadow, within a matted gold border flanked by raised thumbpieces, blue enamel line at the rim, the base centering an oval engine-turned diaperwork cartouche surrounded by graduated engraved festoons, opening to reveal a finely pierced hinged grille and sponge compartment, French, circa 1820
