CIRCA 1770, THE SAUCER WITH BLUE CROSSED SWORDS AND 9 MARK
The pierced plate decorated in the atelier of James Giles, with a fluted and scalloped border, pierced with geometric hearts and crescent ornament, painted in shades of green, outlined in purple and gilt with poppy pods, flowers and scattered sprigs in a chain-pattern well, the coffee-cup with similar pattern, the saucer painted in a similar palette with flowers
The plate 7½ in. (19.1 cm.) diam. (3)
