Probably Augsburg. Third quarter 17th Century
The case with engraved upper border and with D-ended glazed viewing panels to all sides, the hinged underside with toupie feet and fitted with a later bell secured with a replaced strap, the 8 cm. square gilt-copper dial with scored line border and engraved spandrels to Roman chapter ring with sword hilt half hour markers and matted centre, later(?) engraved brass hand, the movement with single chain fusee for the time side, fixed barrel and engraved and calibrated countwheel for the strike via engraved hammer, engraved balance cock to later steel balance, replaced verge escapement, signed M Z on the back plate
