Lot Essay

This is as much a portrait as a fashion document, styled and posed by Newton to reflect Paloma's strong personality. The dramatic slicked-back hair, big bracelets and dress worn à l'Amazone contribute to the dynamic impact of a picture that is among Newton's best-known images.
