Like Madeleine Vionnet, for whom Dunand created the lacquered metal vase included in this sale, Jeanne Lanvin was one of Paris's most sought-after fashion designers and an avid patron of Jean Dunand. The snake motif of this bonbonnière was a popular motif of the Art Deco period and was also used by Dunand for snake sculptures of various sizes.
