The urn shaped body with ram's mask and floral and fruiting swag mounts on a waisted socle and plinth base

Lot Essay

The chimney-piece garniture comprising a plinth-supported blue-john urn, with bacchic fruit-garlanded ram-heads, thyrsus-finial and palm-flowered base, is designed in the George III French/antique fashion introduced in the 1760s at the Birmingham manufactory established by Messrs Boulton and Fothergill (their work is discussed N. Goodison ,Ormolu, London, 2002).
