Lot Essay

The Parable of the Tares appears in Matthew's Gospel and tells the story of the coming of the Son of Man when angels will separate the evil ones ('tares' or weeds) from the worthy (the wheat) and the evil are destroyed. This series of four engravings was published by Gerard de Jode in 1568.
