A FINE FON SCEPTRE
Dahomey
Carved as the head of an animal with wide open jaws, the brass horns with incised ornament, the eyes inset with brass and copper, white metal panels to the temples and back of the neck, the cylindrical shaft with three embossed brass bands and one white metal band, the elaborate brass blade with incised checkerboard design and foliate motifs inset into the open jaws, dark glossy patina.
