A FINE SONGYE MAGIC FIGURE

Standing with large feet on the circular base, the arms carved free of the body with the hands each side of the pierced circular aperture in the abdomen, the boldly carved face with upturned mouth with carved tongue, lenticular eyes flanking the broad nose and finely cross-hatched brows, the coiffure finely carved with rows of pyramidal projections about the central aperture for insertion of fetish horn, pierced horizontally through the ears and through the coiffure, strands of coloured beads about the neck, dark glossy patina with traces of oil.
