With their sphynx base mounts and characteristic winged dragon nozzles, these candelabra are closely related to the production of the bronzier Friedrich Bergenfeldt (1768-1822), who worked in St. Petersburg from the late 1790s. His work was possibly influenced by the designs executed by Andrei Voronikhin (1759-1814), especially those featuring winged dragons or tritons (I. Sychev, Russian Bronze, Moscow, 2003, pp. 90-91).
