Tasting Note: Magnificent. Considered a precocious harvest, three tries from 25 September - 9 October. Five notes, the first in 1991: shimmering colour; luscious, honeyed, great length. Developing well by 1993, then a jump of eight years: deep yellow-gold; lovely, deep, orange blossom nose and flavour. Very sweet, full, rich yet elegant. Last noted part way through a glorious and instructive morning's tasting of 30 vintages, with Bérénice Lurton at the château, Oct 2001 ***** Glorious now, generations of life ahead. M.B.
