Château Cos d'Estournel--Vintage 1995
Saint-Estèphe, 2me cru classé
Tasting Note: First noted in June 1999 at a comparative tasting of Cos and Ch. Pichon, Lalande of four vintages. Interesting contrast of styles, the Cos fairly deep and intense; dumb at first, fruit emerging: almost too sweet and ripe on the palate, and by no means a lightweight (13 alcholhol). Four months later, attending James Suckling's "Super Seconds" tasting at the New York Wine Experience, commentary by Jean-Guillaume, Bruno Prat's son: lovely rich velvety colour; broad, tea-like, gingery nose; rich, "tobacco" spice. "Fresh, with good balance of sugar and acidity". Finally noted at the MW tasting and once again noting its sweet , too mocha nose and taste. Last noted November 1999 *** (*). 2005-2015. M.B.
