On spiral and ring-turned legs joined by wave-carved stretchers, with associated finial, on castors, the underside stamped twice 'GREGORY & CO. 212 & 214 REGENCY ST. LONDON' and '13...', the castors stamped 'COPE'S PATENT', the top replaced

Charles Gregory moved to Regent Street from Borough High Street in 1861. The firm specialised in "Artistic Furniture" and employed designers such as Charles Bevan, who designed a rosewood suite which was awarded a bronze medal at the 1878 Paris Exhibition.
