SHEREMETEV -- OSTANKINO PALACE. Vid'sneltyi s balkona Ostankinskago Zamka prinadlezhashchago Grafu Sheremetevu. [View Gleaned from the Balcony of the Ostankino Palace Belonging to Count Sheremetev.] Moscow: Jean Walser, 1799.

Full-sheet (540 x 770mm) hand-coloured engraved view by Simon Daniel Lafond after Gerard de la Barthe, caption title in Russian and French, mounted on board (light wear in the margins).

A handsome handcoloured view of the southern aspect, including the lake and the Trinity Church, from Ostankino Palace -- the summer residence of the Sheremetev family. Construction was completed only the year before Walser published this fine print, and Sheremetev's insistence on utmost secrecy during construction ensured a great deal of interest in what is still Moscow's largest extant wooden structure.
