TWO JADE FISH PENDANTS, WESTERN ZHOU DYNASTY (1100-771BC)
of green jade with white mottling due to alteration, of long thin flattened form with shaped twin tail and incised fin and eye embellishments, remains of cinnabar to surface, suspension holes to mouth; a fish pendant of a slightly larger size, the jade completely altered to ivory-white, typical incised fin and eyes with large suspension hole, the tail end recarved, Western Zhou (1100-771BC); a further fish pendant of light green jade almost completely altered to ivory-white, the tail end of the fish with bevelled edge for use as a tool, with a further suspension hole partially drilled to tail, Shang Dynasty (1600-1100BC); two curved fish pendants of deep spinach jade with very minor areas of alteration, recarved from bracelets, the suspension holes neatly drilled below the mouth of each fish, Shang/Western Zhou Dynasty (1600-771BC); and an elongated bird pendant, the surface of a completely altered blueish white -- The first 2 1/8in.
