Lot Essay

A sugar-pot and cover, bearing the same type of iron-red asymmetric flower sprigs with hatched petals is illustrated by Leslie B. Grigsby, The Longridge Collection of English Slipware and Delftware, Catalogue (London, 2000), p.376, cat. no. D341, where further pieces with closely related decoration are listed. An example of a mustard-pot of very similar form and size, and with a cover, was sold in these Rooms on 11th December 2000, lot 2.
