Naturalistically modelled perched on a nest, the bird forming the cover and the nest the box, the dove with its head cocked to the right, its speckled plumage enriched in manganese, brown and blue, the oval grassy nest decorated in brown, turquoise and shades of green (chip to beak and nest, chipping to rims, small filled chip to shoulder of wing, hairline crack from rim of tureen, deep glaze crazing to top of head)
