A BÖTTGER SEATED PAGODA FIGURE
CIRCA 1715-20, THE DECORATION POSSIBLY JOHANN AUFENWERTH WORKSHOP, AUGSBURG
Of conventional type, his arm resting on his raised right knee, his left leg tucked beneath him, his gilt-edged robe with gilt star and moon ornament and open at the front to reveal his flesh-coloured torso and a gilt pendant about his neck, his smiling face with a pierced mouth, his shaved head with a gilt skull-cap and, the tufts of hair behind his ears with traces of black cold enamel (chip to footrim at front and toes lacking, slight wear to gilding, black on tufts of hair worn)
