Each side painted with Commedia dell'Arte figures in the manner of Watteau in wooded landscapes, one side with Pierrot, Columbine and a caped figure, the other with a couple seated before an obelisk inscribed with the crowned Saxon Royal AR monogram above crossed swords, Harlequin dangling a lobster before them, below a interlocking gilt scroll border, the spout richly gilt, the wishbone handle with a gilt shell thumbpiece and acanthus terminals, the domed cover with a similar vignette below a flowering gilt branch finial, gilt band rims (restoration to finial and terminals, gilding refreshed throughout including gilder's number on cover)
