A MEISSEN TURQUOISE-GROUND TWO-HANDLED ECUELLE, COVER AND STAND
CIRCA 1740, BLUE CROSSED SWORDS TO STAND, INDISTINCT PRESSNUMMER TO ECUELLE
Of circular form, painted in the manner of Klinger with Holzschnitt Blumen including narcissus, rose and tulip, within quatrefoil shaped panels edged with black and double gilt lines, the cover and stand with a white border with interlocking gilt scrollwork, the scroll handles and bud finial enriched in gilding (one handle a restored replacement, mark to écuelle erased and with shallow area of grinding, slight wear to gilding on well of stand)
The stand 6 7/8 in. (17.6 cm.) diam.
