The initals of the specimen flowers of Blumenbordüren beakers were used to spell the Christian name of a loved one, see Rudolf von Strasse, Die Einschreibebüchlein des Wiener Glas-und Porzellanmalers Anton Kothgasser 1769-1851 (Karlsruhe, 1977), p. 39. This example appears to spell out 'Amalie', using the flower A for Argyranthemum (?), M for Mohnblume, A for Aurikel, L for Lilie, I for Iris and E for Heckenrose (?).
