Lot Essay

The form of the branches and nozzles and the shape of the reticulated globe finials on this chandelier associate it with chandeliers made in and around Liège in the middle of the eighteenth-century. A related example with more elaborate branches and droplets is in the dining-room of the Musée d'Ansembourg à Liège (Prof. Dr. Joseph Philippe, Le Meuble liégeois à son âge d'Or (le XVIIIe siècle), 1990, p. 10, fig. 3).
