Lot Essay

The finely carved strapwork roundels of this elegant cabinet relate to similar roundels on a cabinet in the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris (illustrated in S. de Ricci, Louis XIV und Régence, Stuttgart, 1929, p. 201). Another related buffet à deux corps was sold from the collection of Frederick P. Victoria and Son, Christie's, New York, 27 May 1999, lot 96 ($28,000 exc. premium).
