The purple ground reserved and edged with a shaped border painted with baskets of flowers supported within scrolls and linked by a garland of similar flowers, roundels enclosing Chinoiserie landscapes reserved below alternate with the baskets and linked with berried swags crossing through a gilt flower below the baskets, the lower portion with a gilt-striated puce band further gilt with beading

André-Joseph La France is recorded at Sèvres 1776-1803 and subsequently 1813-1825 as a painter specializing in flowers and also as a gilder. His colleague Nicolas Sinsson is recorded 1773-1775 as a painter specializing in flowers and in patterns.
