The king's head in relief to right, that of his queen to left, each within a circular medallion, the integral glazed frame enriched in gilt, beading edging the frame of the king's portrait

Lot Essay
According to David Peters, the present portraits were produced in a large edition particularly around the time of their accession to the throne in 1774.
