Lot Essay

The beehive on the present bowl is closely related to Masonic emblems of the time, many found of Chinese Export porcelain and printed wares of the period. A similar Bow bowl with fruiting vine and inscribed in black with a painter's 10 is in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London (c.565-1922).
