Lot Essay

A saucer dish in this pattern was sold Bonhams, London, 8 June 2005, lot 194 and a cream jug was sold in The Zorensky Collection, Part II, Bonhams, 23 February 2005, lot 83. Examples in this pattern are often attributed to the Giles workshop and its inspiration is thought to be Meissen porcelain rather than Chinese. See John Sandon, The Dictionary of Worcester Porcelain, vol. I, Suffolk, 1996 for a further discussion.
