Lot Essay

Emile Provencher, propriétaire des moulins de Moret-sur-Loing, entretenait des liens d'amitié avec les artistes qui venaient peindre dans cette région. Il était, entre autres, proche de Pierre-Eugène Montézin qu'il invitait à déjeuner dans sa maison à Moret. Dans cette paire de gouaches, le peintre a choisi de représenter les fenêtres du salon et de la salle-à-manger de la villa.

Emile Provencher, owner of the mills in Moret-sur-Loing, built and maintained friendships with many artists who painted in the region. Among others, he was close with Pierre-Eugène Montézin, who often lunched together. In this pair of gouaches, the artist represents the living room and dining room windows of Provencher's home.
