Lot Essay

H. Ottomeyer and P. Pröschel illustrate a watercolour of circa 1810 with a design for a similar candlestick with such distinctive Egyptian herm-headed stem (H. Ottomeyer & P. Pröschel, Vergoldete Bronzen, vol. I, Munich, 1986, pp. 326, ill. 5.1.7.).
