A GEORGE II SILVER WARWICK-CRUET
MARK OF SAMUEL WOOD, LONDON, 1744
The cinquefoil frame on five shell feet, the baluster stem with scroll and foliage handle, the front applied with rocaille, flower and foliage cartouche, with one larger and two smaller baluster casters, each with baluster finial, and two cut-glass bottles with silver covers, the cartouche engraved with a coat-of-arms, marked under base, on handle, under each caster and on each cover bezel, the base further engraved with a scratchweight '57'

weight of silver 56 oz. (1,748 gr.)
The arms are those of Rawson impaling Sterne, for Jeremiah Rawson (d.1767) of Bradford and his wife Francis (1715-1801), daughter of Richard Sterne of Elvington, whom he married in 1734. They had a son and a daughter but both died in infancy and the estates passed to a cousin Benjamin Rawson. The estates eventually passed to his great grandaughter who married Henry, 13th Viscount Mountgarret in 1846.
