THE STAND MARKED COSTA, CIRCA 1680
The oval stand on spreading foot, the vase-shaped detachable cruet bottles each tapering cylindrical and on spreading foot, with angular spout and scroll handle, the hinged cover framed with finials as initials A and V, each engraved on one side with a rose and on the other with a coat-of-arms and dated 1680, the salver engraved with a coat-of-arms and further engraved with an inscription, marked under the salver
the salver 8¾ in. (22.2 cm.) wide
21 oz. (658 gr.)
The inscription reads 'SE HIZO EN ENERO EL ANO 1680 SIENDO CAPELLAN MOSSEN PANTALEON XIMENEZ DEL LUGAR DE CENARBE &C' WHICH TRANSLATED READS 'THIS WAS MADE IN THE YEAR 1680 WHEN MOSEN PANTALEON XIMENEZ FROM CENARBE & C. WAS CLERGYMAN'. (3)
