A GEORGE II SILVER INKSTAND
MARK OF EDWARD WAKELIN, LONDON, 1755
The oblong stand on four scroll feet, with shell and scroll decorated gadrooned rim, with ink and pounce pots, with central taperstick with spool-shaped socket, each with gadrooned rims, engraved with a coat-of-arms, the base engraved with an inscription, marked underneath and under each container
11½ in. (29 cm.) wide
43 oz. (1,340 gr.)
The arms are those of Martin impaling Jackson, for John Martin (1692-1767) of Quy Hall, co. Cambridge and Overbury Park, co. Worcester and his wife Catherine, daughter of Joseph Jackson of Sneed Park, co. Glouscester, whom he married in 1724.

The inscription reads 'In Memory of Mrs Eliz Heberden.'
