Cylindrical on slightly spreading reeded base, the lower-body part spiral fluted, the hinged cover fluted and with corkscrew finial, with scroll handle, engraved with coat-of-arms, marked near rim, on cover and on handle

The arms are those of Sidley, baronets. There were two Sidley baronetcies extant at the time of this tankard. The Sidleys of Ailesford and the Sidleys of Great Chart. Therefore the arms could relate to either Sir Charles Sidley 5th and last Bt. of Ailesford (1639-1701) or his kinsmen Sir Isaac Sidley (d. circa 1695) of Great Chart.
