The present model, one of the most popular hound groups by Fremiet, was first exhibited at the Salon of 1853 (no. 1353) and once again, alongside Chien courant blessé', at the Exposition Universelle in 1855. Individual portraits of each hound were also cast in bronze as well as in Svres biscuit porcelain.
