3 volumes, 2o (457 x 283 mm). Engraved frontispiece portrait of Clarendon in volume one, vignette title-page in each volume, head- and tail-pieces and initials. (One or two marginal stains.) Contemporary speckled paneled calf, spines in 7 panels with 6 raised bands, elaborately decorated with gilt flower tools in 6, gilt-lettered morocco lettering piece in one (rebacked preserving the original spines, extremities a bit scuffed). Provenance: Rob:n Croucher (18th-century inscription on title-page of each volume recording purchase of these volumes from the Sale of Duplicates at Badminton); Harald Markham Temple (bookplates and inscriptions recording purchase of theses volumes from The Nash [then family seat of the Temple family] Library sale, at Kempsey near Worcester in December of 1922); Reeves Library, Westminster College, Fulton Missouri (bookplates, bequest of J. Raymond Dyer).
