CHINA, QING DYNASTY, JIAQING PERIOD (1796-1820)


The cylindrical body decorated with eight rows of gilt shou 'longevity' characters on a blue enamel ground below a keyfret border, the foot decorated with lotus petals lappets, the base with incised sealmark reading Wei Yang Tang Wan Heng Zao ; tiny restorations on one vase


Compare this pair of vases with a similarly decorated bowl, inscribed with a Jiaqing mark, and illustrated by H. Brinker and A. Lutz, Chinese Cloisonné : The Pierre Uldry Collection, Zurich, 1989, pl. 347. Two other examples of a single bowl and of a plate in the Beijing Palace Museum are illustrated in Metal-Bodied Enamel Ware-The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum, Hong Kong, 2002, pls. 154 and 155.

Cette paire de vases est à rapprocher d'une coupe à décor similaire, portant une marque de l'Empereur Jiaqing et illustrée dans H. Brinker and A. Lutz, Chinese Cloisonné : The Pierre Uldry Collection, Zurich, 1989, pl. 347. Deux autres exemples, l'un d'un bol et l'autre d'une coupe figurent également dans les collections du Musée du Palais de Pékin et sont illustrés dans l'ouvrage intitulé Metal-Bodied Enamel Ware - The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum, Hong Kong, 2002, pls. 154 and 155.
