Depicted seated with his feet apart on a trapezoidal integral plinth, wearing a short pleated kilt, a cap crown and an incised broad-collar, a papyrus scroll unrolled on his lap, with an inscription, reading: "The Prophet Imhotep, Son of Ptah, Born of Kherdu-ankh," the roll in his left hand, his right hand curved around the edge, his large eyes inlaid, gold or electrum for the sclerae, black bronze for the pupils and brows
