Debuted in 1996, reference 5035 is the first self-winding automatic wristwatch featuring the patented annual calendar mechanism, referred to as a useful complication because it automatically corrects the date for months with 30 and 31 days while displaying the month and the day of the week - and only requires correction once a year at the end of February.

See lot 3697 for the reference 5035 in platinum.

The model is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, 1998, p. 323.
