Lot Essay

Charles Henri Marie van Wijk (1875-1917) was educated in the foundry of his father and at the Academy in The Hague under guidance of Eugène Lacomblé (1828-1905). He worked as a decorative sculpture in The Hague and was awarded a bronze medal at the Exposition Universelle of 1900. His minor works consist of genre figures such as The Prodigal Son, Mother and Child and Peasant at Work.
