rectangular box with bombé sides, the cover chased with scrolls on a sablé ground and set with two oval watercolour on ivory miniatures, one of a gentleman in light green coat, white knotted cravat, hair en queue, the other of a lady in light green dress with pearl strand at shoulder, white Van Dyck collar, curling fair hair, and with initials 'H' and 'L' in diamonds, the sides and base chased with scrolls and a diaper pattern, Royal French fleur-de-lys spandrels

Lot Essay

A very similar box by Morel but set with a pair of miniatures by Joseph-Hippolyte Lequeutre depicting the two French Royal children Henri Comte de Chambord and his sister Louise, Duchess of Parma, were sold in Rennes, Maîtres J. Livinec, Ch. Pincemin and X. Gauducheau, 13 June 1995. That box had been presented by the Comte de Chambord and his sister to the Comte de Pradel.
