oval box, the cover inset with an oval enamel miniature depicting a scène champêtre with a couple of young Russian peasants, in the manner of Le Prince, the gentleman playing the balalaika, framed by a green enamelled laurel wreath, the cover, four side panels and base enamelled in translucent red on a wavy guilloché ground, the borders enamelled with translucent green-beaded leaves alternating with gold flower-heads, the four side pilasters decorated with green enamelled festoons, all on matted ground
