Property from a Wine Connoisseur
Sourced from an enviable stock of wines stored in a much-loved cellar, the following wines are just a sampling of this collector's diverse and well-chosen stock. After a meeting with Robert Parker in the 90s, this well-established Christie's client was truly bitten by the fine wine bug, traveling across Europe and California, sampling and searching for the very best examples from the world's leading regions.
Now in need of some trimming back to free up some cellar space to allow him to continue to further expand, store, share and enjoy his passion in relative calm, these following wines, featuring an enticing collection of first-growth Bordeaux from the 2000 and 1996 vintages, along with select DRC offerings, were all purchased on release and have been stored carefully ever since.
To ensure, within reason, these wines do not return and re-cramp the cellar space, all the wines below are offered with highly-competitive reserves to encourage keen bidding and reward those who take time to read these cellar description introductions. Bid away and help this collector tidy his space!
Château Latour--Vintage 2000
Pauillac, 1er cru classé
Lot 292 in original wooden case
"Cask sample tasted March 2001 at the château: very deep, velvety, opaque core, with intese purple rim; dumb at first, rich, spicy, violets, very Cabernet; full, hard, spicy, tannic. Denser tannins and higher acidity than the '99. (*****) Long life." MB, Vintage Wine
