This cabinet is an early example of the characteristically Dutch display-or China cabinet, and has retained its open stand, typical for the William and Mary period. This was gradually superseded by a curvaceous base section with three drawers. A similar example, previously in the collection of L.Bernheimer in Munich, is illustrated in C. de Jonge, Holländische Möbel und Raumkunst von 1650-1780, The Hague, 1922, p. 107.
